  • The male shakes violently just before releasing the fry. I believe it is to separate them from each other because of the cramped living space. It's a good way to tell it's time to get the camera out.

  • wow it lookes like it was sneezing and that the blow hole looked very very very wrong lol

if only there was a vid. where it showed when the mother injected the eggs that would complete my day :)

  • I'll look through all my footage one day and post it . . .

  • what did you do with them all?

  • Raised them and sold them

  • is it realy considered birth?

  • That's a really intriguing question. The female injects the eggs into the male's pouch where he fertilizes them and then incubates them until they are fully developed. Since seahorses are the only animals that the male carries the young there is nothing else to compare to. It seems like birth to me but someone else will have to answer definitively.

  • I wonder what in Gods name is going through his head right now.

  • rsatov, I've enjoyed watching the videos of your captive breeding ranch. I have raised several broods myself but it is such a committment and my family room looks like yours with tanks all over the place and brine shrimp tanks of various different ages for the babies. My question is, what type of filter do you have for the newborns? Also, what was the name of that substance (food) that you said you can give the babies and they'll eat it?Thanks.

  • Don't eat those! Just because they look like food... LOL. We have a great seahorse exhibit at the GA Aquarium here in Atlanta. I've yet to catch a birthing but I have seen the egg transfer. Very interesting creatures!

  • turn off the filter! NO! TURN OFF THE FILTERRR!!!!!!

  • Cool

  • one sea-horse baby for one cent cause its so small!!!

  • hahaha ejaculation... exactly my thought o_o

  • these seahorses are very tiny.
