A brief video of a push hands class in the One Room School House and then a unique overhead look at Ward-Off, Roll-Back, Press and Push taught by Wilson Pitts. see our website- sacredpeaks.net
Hello there my friend....my phone literally fried itself...so I have no numbers anymore....things have been odd to say the least but I'm slowly recovering from whatever had happened.....things around my home town seem to slowly be improving...I hope it is the same where you are....infinite love and peace to you and all you know. white lion.
When the movement isn't anticipated, that is when this root which the other person does have, is actually sensed. That form and push hands inside of Tai Chi, both require relaxation. The time a person's root does collapse, is when the person maintaining the root does forget to maintain it.
I have enjoyed this video. Aiki and Tai Chi seems like it is shooting for the same thing through slightly different methods. I have begun borrowing ideas from the Tai Chi folks. Thanks for the inspiration. More push hands videos please!
if you collapse, you already lost- that is not natural- collapsing is basically dying & not taiji. sinking does not equal nor is it related to collapse/fall. so if you urself fall, i have even more chance of basically beating you up and destroying your alignment.
Yes...that could be a challenge. But a solution to overcoming a softer opponent is to become heavy...let your stance become lower than your opponent. Maybe go so far as to fall straight down if that what is takes...babies do it all the time. It very hard to lift up and throw a person.
i suppose i also understand the point your making about sinking. but the problem when dealing with someone much softer than oneself, one cant sense the other person thus cant react properly. so no matter how much i 'turn', my center remain exposed. but again we should always remain conscious of ourselves and balance/alignment

I wouldn't be surprised if the guy that he's pushing around brought a gun the next day and killed him, nor would I blame him... lol

I'm still talking about sinking down , to tranfering the energy of the opponent to the ground...and not be thrown across the room.
But taiji is hard to master. It takes lots of training day in and day out.
