  • My friend's horse has exact same thing, but Only in one hind leg.

    Does your horse get better?

  • @emilybabesz1993 Eventually it can do through proper diet and nutrition but it can be a long road and no guarantees. I'd say our horse is much improved but still especially when it's cold and wet stumbles a bit.

  • @emilybabesz1993 Our horse has recovered, it took almost 1 year. Each horse is different in severity, recovery time, it is hard to predict. We were given estimates of 6-18 months. Not every horse recovers 100%. The nerve sheaths (axons) need to regrow, so supplementing with vitamin E is very helpful. I used a product called "Elevate". Which is liquid vitamin E that you pour over a bit of grain or oats. It gives them the building blocks to regrow the nerve sheaths to the back legs.

  • just out of curiosity, how do you get a fake dandelion? and doesn't regular dandelion cause stringhalt?

  • Poor girl, I hope she's feeling better!

  • Is this condition painful to the horses? I can see it probably effecting the hoof over time because of the constant slamming down, but would there be anything else?
