tip down's
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I love using tip-downs for perch ice fishing while I am using one rod for jigging, we can have three lines in the water.
Tip-Downs are widely used for perch fishing as perch tend to shy away from tip-ups or drop the minnows when they feel the resistance of the flag. These have no resistance. They just tip over as soon as a fish grabs them.
If you are not familiar with tip-downs, the fish cannot be reeled in. They are made for hand over hand retrieval. There are 2 reasons. One, you want the rod to be as light as possible so the fish can easily pull it down.
Wire or plastic rod strikes when fish puls the bait and spooks her,
our allow the fish to take the bait deeper without feeling resistance on the line.
I watched one trapstix video. Whoever shot it was a knucklehead. Over 2 minutes of noise and no fish or information on the device at all. Makes me want to keep looking for something else.
