@romeoblb94 Yes you can. You don't NEED to though, everything that effects gameplay can be earned from just playing the game (characters / endorsements / products) but the character skins and taunts require real money.

@Nikedawg ok, i have a few more questions then. do your purchases carry over? and also, i heard that to buy them with the in-game currency, it is quite time consuming. is this true? like 30-40 games worth of .....currency. could you give me your thoughts on this?

@romeoblb94 Everything you unlock now you keep forever. It does take a pretty long time to unlock characters but you get a selection of free ones that rotates every week (similar to LoL). I've been playing for a while though and have all the characters I enjoy unlocked. I don't really mind playing a while to unlock another character since I REALLY enjoy the game.
