Raymond Marpin Guyula playing the Blue Bamboo - didgeridoo interest

This is Raymond Marpin who is also found in some of my other YouTube clips, a wiz of a mago AND yirdaki player.

Marpin shows how the Blue Bamboo can be played both styles, well.

The most fascinating piece he played for this clip, which he demonstrated, taught, and provided cultural insights into at "Meet the Stars" is Dhuluthulu - night owl he says, though I thought it might be a species of nightjar or perhaps the Tawny Frogmouth. But Yolngu said Dhuluthulu is a small bird, so I need to investigate further what bird this really is. The yidaki segment is played without overtone note though the genre that this song belongs to is NEAL, bunggul-style. Dhuluthulu is a spiritual messenger and Marpin's group totem, seeing it and hearing it suggests that danger is coming.

Might this be a recent posting of an older video. I was under the impression that Raymond Marpin was no longer with us? Comments under one of the older vids of him playing a Dhugurun said "sadly he passed away" in reference to Marpin. Is this correct?

@alternatehistories No, this is a recent video of just a week or so ago. The comment you are referring was in reference to another great, David Mununggurr. But Dhugurun has also passed, RIP.
