  • Many many late-late Romantics are underplayed. I think it's because they've been overshadowed by the Modernists of the early 20th century, who seem to have made the most noise in all senses of the word. (Those are not, to me, the pleasant noises made by the late-late Romantics.) Of those I've explored, Ms.Amy is one of the best!

  • If she was male, her works would be well known.

  • @MikJFr Personally, I'm quite partial to the Modernists and their noise, if only because such noise essentially formed the musical basis for progressive rock/experimental rock/math rock, like Magma or Don Caballero. Stravinsky's Rite of Spring is a triumph; one of the most divisive pieces of music ever conceived. A ballet tune that you can riot to. Modernist compositions are the chaos of the twentieth century distilled into musical form. I still like Baroque and Romantic music, though.

  • @ArkyliouS Heh- I'd say that's pretty good.

  • @gsmonks it was good enough for Boston, New York, and Pittsburgh to play the symphony

  • Boring.

  • @ThaSchwab She's an underplayed and historically significant composer who merits notice.

  • Not bad. I'll have to listen to the rest of this piece to determine whether Ms. Beach is an underplayed composer.
