The reason they sound like early Grass Roots is that they recorded for Dunhill Records, and P.F. Sloan and Steve Barri wrote their material.

And- National Tours: Dick Clark Caravan of Stars, with Mitch Ryder & The Detroit Wheels, The Strangeloves, Lou Christie, The Happenings, The Capitols, Cash McCall, Keith Allison. Opening for The Animals & The Turtles @ Santa Monica Civic Auditorium. "I've Got No More To Say" clocked in as Record of the Year, So. Africa, 1967. "Penny Arcade", the band's first single, was spun on American Bandstand, early 1966.(That Casey Kasem Show should in the above comment should read "9th Street West".)

I heard this song when it came out on our local radio station. It died very quickly. More info might be obtained by posting on rockin50s Although this Web site deals with mostly 50s songs, they will answer questions about 1960s songs also. Thanks for posting. I hadn't heard this since it was released.

This song is also on the first Grass Roots album . Written by P.F. Sloan and Steve Barri, who WERE the Grass Roots for a short while in the beginning.

The garage was in Beverly Hills, as Danny Thomas' son, Tony (on drums & percussion) and pals put together The Thomas Group, did TV, tours, and records 1966-1968. Tony Thomas, drums/percussion, vocals; Greg Gilford, lead singer, keyboards; David Goldsmith, bass guitar, vocals; Bobby Wallerstein, rhythm guitar; Mryon Howard, lead guitar. TV: "The Ed Sullivan Show", May 1966; Casey Kasem's "9th Street WesAt", 1966; Dick Clark's "Where The Action Is" 1967; The Danny Thomas Hour, 1968.
