Just some test shot from my new Canon HG10. A little over 1 min. in length. iMovie converts the AVCHD files from the camera to AIC while importing them. Currently there is no way that I know of to burn the AVCHD video to DVD on a MAC. I have however successfully burned AVCHD files to a standard DVD and played them on my PS3 using Windows software.

In this short video you can see an enormous difference between 24p Auto and 24p Cinema mode.

Go to http://gallery.mac.com/nitetrain/100075 for a higher quality vid.

  • im considering buying this camcorder and so far i think i am but the one main thing that i need to know is the frames per second this records at and also if it has an alternate setting for slow motion at somewhere aroud 200 fps so pls help me!!

  • It shoots 24p and 60i but i'm not sure about slow-mo. I don't think it has that option. Pretty sure it can't do that.

  • I see all these HG10 test shot videos, but the reality is that posting in this venue at such low resolution and compression is somewhat pointless. I would like to know how to maximize the compression/quality ratio for posting here, otherwise for the purposes, HD is a little useless.

  • Well I agree, That is why I in the description I put a link to a higher res vid on my .mac site

  • I think the latest iMovie 09 with the latest updates handles AVCHD lite. I've got to say with everything I've been reading (I was thinking of getting rid of my Canon XM2/GL2), I might just stick with SD for now. I can't help that thinking that while I'll get nice quality footage with HD, editing won't be the completely straightforward process that I'm used to - unless anyone can put my mind at rest!

  • Every home camcorder has poor audio, but there are dozens of aftermarket mics, even one made by canon, that improve it.

  • is the audio as bad as they say it is?

  • would like to know should i buy this model HG10 or something else besides canon or is htis good camera even tho some like th HF10 and HG100 better thanks for any help

  • And that is why it doesn't work. ;-)

  • Try adding &fmt=18 at the end of the watch URL.

  • Hey fatcity. I need this test with the otiginal file, youtube is useless for this. Anywhere you have uploaded original file?

  • best video for the $ by far.
