12x Speed

I did Damsel in Distress - Level 4 in my Tengu. My skills are still poor and I am using only T2 Ballistic Control units. In order to tank the pocket, I select an object, or drop a Scourge Heavy Missile to create an object and orbit it at 60km. As the enemies try to fly towards me I am constantly traversing them, making it nearly impossible to hit.

[High]
6x 'Arbalest' Heavy Missile Launcher,Thunderbolt Heavy Missile

[Mid]
2x Gistii B-Type Small Shield Booster
Peripheral Weapon Navigation Diameter
Invulnerability Field II
Photon Scattering Field II
Republic Fleet 10MN Afterburner

[Low]
4x Ballistic Control System II

[Rig]
Medium Capacitor Control Circuit I

[Subsystem]
Tengu Defensive - Amplification Node
Tengu Electronics - Dissolution Sequencer
Tengu Offensive - Accelerated Ejection Bay
Tengu Propulsion - Fuel Catalyst
Tengu Engineering - Augmented Capacitor Reservoir

  • I'm wondering how much dps does the Target Painter do for you?

You would probably be overtanked if you dropped it for a Shield Boost Amp or another hardener, but is it really worth it to TP?

  • @dalevans1 The average DPS increase for the TP is not particularly significant, what is significant is the DPS increase it provides against the most dangerous NPCs to missioners: Elite Frigates (with web or scram). Being able to kill these around 20% faster is very significant, and probably has more of an impact on survivability than a Shield Boost Amplifier would.

  • 4 BCU's? The third and fourth BCU are suffering from a HUGE stacking penalty. I know there really isnt anything else you can put in the lows for damage. But you might try a cap flux coil and see if that lets you get rid of the CCC. Or maybe two Overdrive II units for better tank. Really those extra BC's are giving you somewhere around 2 extra points per missle of damage. Just not worth it to have them.

  • @Sodiumreactor 6% damage is not insignificant (Stacking peneltied BCS II with ROF and damage multiplied out). There have been many cases where people have trained month long skills for less (warhead upgrades V for example is 2%). If you fit a Bay Loading Accelerator II, then a BCS II would be less than half that.

If not a BCS, I would either take a Nanofiber II or a DCS II. I think the latter would provide better defense since it's a straight 10% incoming damage reduction for shields.

  • @zanthrasw Yes you are right about that small percentage. I wasnt thinking of it in terms of defense. What else can you fit on a Tengu that will increase missle damage? Ive got a TP, is a web worth getting?

  • @Sodiumreactor If you have rigor rigs along with your CCC for explosion radius, which for some reason did not get into the description, then you could replace one with a flare catalyst, and get another painter. This let's you get some damage bonus that you would get from the web, without losing the significant range advantage of heavy missiles.

PS: If you can afford it and fit it, a bay loading accelerator II will improve damage done more substantially.

  • kind of boring without a song

  • @dalevans1 if hes got all the heavy missile skills he can train up to level four or five, it probly wontmatter much, i have every heavy missile skill trained to at least level four plus a few BCS modulesto boost my firing rate, my shield tank skills are through the roof too, im training my way through all the damage type compensation skills, training EM to level 4 jumped my tengus passive resist from 0 all the way to 27% without any of my hardeners activated

  • @ZhiSiZhanShi Yes, suicide ganking is a real problem, however suicide ganking is a real problem in any fast missioning ship. I just hope that I am recording it when the suicide gankers destroy my Tengu, that will make a great youtube video!

You can minimize your risk by remembering to run your defense mods, and even overheat them if a suspicious ship (tempest, malestrom, apoc, dessie gang) shows up, warp to 0, and watch local. In a mission if you see any of those on your overview, bail!

  • I would really be careful flying such a Tengu fit nowadays though, especially in mission hubs like Ichoriya, since all it takes to suicide gank that fit is one (maybe 2 if ur lucky) volleys from an apoc/mael with 1400mms.
