@yourkshire1able A Magnetic Loop Antenna is the absolute best setup for apartments and tight spaces, bar none. Best defence against interference!!!

For someone like myself, who can't erect an external antenna (apartment block), what is the best indoor alternative?

By the by, Ray, I have an old vintage radio Bluencomf? please excuse my poor spelling that I had dismantled 10 years ago, needing the apartment space at the time. Anyhow all I have anymore is the main tube deck and the basic radio and the plastic (1940s 1950s plastic channel indicator display) and was wondering if it might be worth it to reassemble it? And I too had started when a boy, some 45 or so+ years ago, listening to radio. Great stuff that hobby. Murray K in Ottawa.

Hey Ray, good informative stuff. Was just online and found your site, thanks for posting it. Am thinking about a Grundig S350 DL for am/fm and swl worldwide.
Whatcha think?

Hi Ray, Just got hold of a Marconiphone T21A, Cabinet being restored but the radio does fire up and rx ok, should I get it checked out and the capacitors etc replaced? Really love old valve radios..could get into this big time..beats listen to 59..20 mtr pile ups. Cheers Ian G0YAP.

@G0YAP It might be a good idea to have the radio serviced as you're having the cabinet restored. Cheers, Ray.

Why make a video, on a subject about which you know little? I don't get it.

@Jamiep84 Hi Jamie, I think you’ve missed the point. The video is non-technical for people who have old domestic valve radios covering short wave. It would be crazy for me to talk about doublets fed with 600 ohm open-wire feeder or coax-fed dipoles. My customers aren’t using communications receivers or transmitting on the HF bands. For the technically minded, I cover transmitting aerials on my amateur radio web site. All the best, Ray.

@g4nsj jamiep84 is so obviously a troll and you Ray such a gentlemen to bother replying to him. You have repaired 3 radios for me and always do a top notch job. You sir are clearly an expert on this subject.
