  • Both tension arm rollers are way off; too high. Your tension strings are broken or you have backtension/countertorque problems. Google velvetdreamstudios and check it out!

  • When I got it brand new, it was already so.

On my second machine (I got that one second hand) it is exectly the same...

  • .......most cases becomes dislodged and renders the whole thing useless.Just remove both units (just one screw on each,,,,from behind) being carefull with the springs, which the bottom one needs removing. Then take off the pulleys by removing the two small scews behind the pulley plate. The brass inner pulls away from the alloy outer ...then just simply clean off all the old silicon on their surfaces and very lightly smear with new silicon......It's a crude method but very effective...Good Luck

  • don't worry too much about tention arms, they're very easy to fix......the strings are most likely NOT BROKEN they just look that way. What can happen is that the pulleys need cleaning .The silicon in... them (which actualy causes the dampening effect) clogs up.The strings are wrapped around these pulleys two or three times, and are anchored at each side on small springs . The bottom part of the string fatstens into an arm which is held in tension by the bottom spring. This in ............

  • how much

  • Thinkin about gettin one to bounce a ProTools Mix to prior to mastering... Worth it??

  • Hi its great to see you have this machine in running order.I had one of the same model and had nothing but trouble with it.Tape counter would start counting backwards after machine warmed up,right audio out socket on rear was intermittent (due to a faulty relay on output circuit board, replaced twice),and finally the whole machine packed up.I ended up selling it for parts.I would be interested to see if anyone else has had problems, apparently faults are common with this model.

  • You should really check it, because it is not normal... If the damper string is not broken (looks so that way), then you have backtension problems. The tension rollers should really ride about half-way (specially when there is equal amout of tape on both reels). When a reel is full, it's roller should really ride just a tad lower. When it's almost empty, it should ride a bit higher, but just a tiny bit...

  • cool machine. I have the older big brother of the 32, the Tascam 52. Tascam just makes great stuff. Enjoy your 32, and keep it running right. Great video, thanks for posting it.
