In this video I "Unbox" the Firebox I got from Steve over at Firebox Industries. I thought I would do this in front of the camera and get my reactions to the stove when I first see it.
Steve said that the Firebox was not designed for the ultralight backpacker in mind but rather for the regular outdoor lover. The Firebox is a folding stove that is a wood burning hobo/no trace campfire, that doubles as a pot stand / wind screen for alcohol burners and Sterno® type canisters as well as a very efficient Esbit stove.
I look forward to putting the Firebox through a bunch of tests.

Sorry. In the excitement of playing with the Firebox I forgot to mention that you can find more info at the following link.

  • thanks for the review, looking forward to the trail test

  • I have one on these, very well made and in the USA. Great job Steve and Ben. Not a stove meant for a wennie weight hiker, but the versatility is great. Look forward to your test Hiramcook

  • too heavy and cost way too much also poor design for refueling have to say thumbs down on this stove

  • If you decide to start testing more wood stoves I would love to see the Emberlit stove in the future.

  • @onebadboy2 We are planning to offer a 7" version in the future

  • @ShePreps2 The grill and boiler plate are still in testing but should be available very soon at folding firebox.com with no space

  • @mostcanwait A titanium version is in the works and should be available first part of the new year. We are shooting for under one pound.

  • Can't wait for the Hiram Trials to begin. Happy Holidays to you and your family, including Max of course.

  • Nice review! I recently acquired one of these but I didn't get the grill or boiler plate with mine. Did your friend hip you as to how to get it separately? TIa

    SP2

  • Looks great but for hiking purposes I'd really like to see a titanium version that is about 25% smaller.
