Problem with RARDEN was its lack of stabilisation. British Army doctrine always stipulated firing from the short halt or while debussing the section, but there's no question it greatly limited the gun's effectiveness. OK, lots less to go wrong, but it required a great deal of skill to fight it properly. RARDEN was basically for whomping BMPs, BTRs, soft-skinned vehs, and low-flying helicopters in the hover or at low speed. A "get you out of trouble" weapon if you like
As part of the Warrior upgrade we're getting a new two-man job with a stabilised 40mm firing Cased Telescoped Ammunition. Puts us way ahead of the competition firepower wise. Less inboard impact, much more compact ammo stowage.
The RARDEN *was* a good weapon - almost exactly the same penetration as the round fired by the A-10s GAU8, but much more accurate. The new 40mm gun will also be fitted to the new scout vehicle replacing Scimitar.
good thing this is not on cod becuase if it was there would be loads of cod nerds posting there comment on this video thinking they know everything about the warrior IFV
@hotrod4you2 I'd agree with your first point. the Warrior IFV does need some kind of AA/AT missile system, like the M2a3 Bradley, or the m6 Linebacker of the Us army. it'd be a great force multiplier, and these IFV's could really take down some heavy Armour.
this is my 2 fav ifv, i love the size,the x long cannon got to give it extra range, only needs a 2 anti-armor missile pack on eachside 4 missile total, so does u.s bradly ifv

Turret is by Delco, as used on the LAV 25.

@TheMichaelChampion I do stand corrected. A Warrior hull, with a LAV III Turret, Not in service with the British forces presumably?

@triumph1974
That's the Desert Warrior variant with a Bushmaster turret you're looking at. No Bradleys in this video.

Pretty burly. I like at 0:24, sliding around in the mud. That thing is scary.
