After laying out fiberglass insulation (commonly used in homes) inside the door panels of my xB, a dramatic sound difference is heard. This time, we're tuning in to Relient K "Up and Up". Refer to Scion xB: External Sound Test video for the clip of how it sounded before insulation was laid out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJOPNbQpxnY

  • That was a nice sound test, how is the stock sound quality of the system though? Do you think a subwoofer is needed? or does it come with one? Nice work mate.

  • I kept this system stock and simply sound dampened the door panels. The sound system is great when you have your windows up, but don't expect to impress anyone if your windows are down. There is no sub as the speakers are components, which create both the bass and the mids. The highs are handled by your two tweeters. An upgrade in sound would always help if you want banging sound, but it is pretty good for stock.

  • How well has this been at eliminating road and wind noise? This is interesting. I am more concerned with eliminating road/wind noise as my 2008 Scion tC is very noisy at highway speeds. I get about 69-71 dB @ 70 miph.
