Getting numbers in your x-value data can be a little tricky. Excel 2008 doesn't allow you to specify x-value data for bar charts. Here is a work around.

Video Outline
*Add non-numerical data to your x-axis column.
*Create your bar chart.
*Make sure your text is now in the x-axis.
*If not, format the x-value data as text and try again.
*Add Labels

  • I found a problem do you know how to fix it ?

i can copy and past stuff from the number sheets and stuff but when i try to copy the head sheet thingy i just can't copy the head words above the number sheets. Which is really annoying.

please can anybody help me. with the excel 2008 on an apple mac computer

  • THIS IS THE BEST VIDEO EVER MADE. so helpful and easy! no questions at all! thank you so much! <3 <3 <3

  • Thank you. I wanted to shoot my screen.

  • Excel may be the most user unfriendly program ever made, I swear, sometimes I have to call my computer programmer friend over to help me. He basically saves me from ripping all of my hair out

  • thank you thank you thank you!!!!! LIFE SAVER!

  • You don't have to change numbers to words in the cells. Just get the Formatting Palette up from View>Toolbox>Formatting Palette and select the graph you want to label and add/edit labels underneath "Chart Options".

Although I would've never figured it out if it weren't for this vid.

  • Thank you SOOOOOOOOOO much!!!! I just CANNOT figure out how to label the x and y-axis!!! I'm really grateful for this^^

  • when i click the chart it doesnt show me all those options
