I'm a singer and I have to say her diction is very good. I think the only reason some do not understand that easily is that she has an impeccable legato. I would rather loose some words and get a nice phrasing, phrasing and dynamics. I mean... I can only talk for mysef.. I have heard that aria so many times I could even recite the whole thing even during a coma.

@deterrese that's because sopranos often have to sacrifice certain consonants and vowels in order to sing that high. That's what all my choir instructors have said.

you can't compare singers because there are so many who are so good. its all personal. what do you look for? my personal favorite is joan sutherland. others cant stand her because of her diction. some love maria callas, i cant stand her. they are all still amazing.
