Elaine Hendrix is presented the 2009 Guardian Award by Dr. Elliot Katz, founder and president of In Defense of Animals at the 2009 Animal Rights Conference in Los Angeles. Also giving a heart felt introduction is French Stewart who vowed to live a more consciously humane lifestyle due to his admiration of Elaine.
Aside from being involved with humanitarian efforts, cancer research, the environment and children's issues, Elaines greatest passion is the humane treatment of animals. She is the spokesperson for the international organization In Defense Of Animals, works with local rescue groups throughout California, Tennesee and Georgia, and is an honorary committee member of the 2008 Genesis Awards presented by The Humane Society of the United States. In Los Angeles, Elaine has been actively involved in issues ranging from the Free Billy the elephant from the Los Angeles Zoo to the protesting of pet stores that sell dogs from puppy mills. Other humanitarian appearances include a national campaign of ACLU PSAs and as Here! TVs red carpet hostess for the 11th Annual The Ribbon of Hope Awards.
