  • in cheryl jennings, is that the one that's still here?

  • @80sCommercialVault When I think "inauguration", I think of the public events, which is what I thought the original poster was referring to. But yes, Reagan's second term did officially begin on Super Bowl Sunday 1985, and the official oath of office was administered on that day. Let's agree that inauguration events were spread out over two days and leave it at that.

  • @MeInTX I realize that the largely ceremonial inaugural event (Most of which seems to have been canceled) didn't happen until the 21st, but the fact remains that Reagan was sworn in on Super Bowl Sunday, which appears to have been broadcast as well. The two events clearly overlapped and affected each other, as evidenced by much of the news reports my Uncle recorded that weekend. It's not something I would correct someone on.

  • @80sCommercialVault I guess I should have been clearer. The oath of office is always given on the 20th (or March 4 prior to 1937), but the public ceremonies are held on Monday if the 20th falls on a Sunday. The (cancelled) inaugural parade and other public events were always scheduled for Monday the 21st.

  • @MeInTX Reagan canceled the outdoor inaugural activities due to the bitter weather and was took the oath of office via private ceremony on the 20th. Please refer to the ABC News Weekend Report that I've posted.

  • @dinfg6 Actually, Reagan's inauguration was on Monday the 21st. Presidential inaugurations don't happen on a Sunday.

  • The Niners will rise again.

  • The Team of the 1980s The San Francisco 49'ers with Joe Montana at the Helm, and Roger Craig, Jerry Rice, and Ronnie Lott as the Supporting Cast!

  • GO NINERS !!!!

  • Burlingame was the Niners headquaters then? I didn't know that. When did they move down to Santa Clara?
