  • Can I play the pentatonic in another pattern and playing outside?

  • @bogik Sure, there are no rules. Just make good rhythmic phrases and end on some good chord notes.

  • I never thought the words"'pentatonic" and "outside" would ever be in the same sentence... This lesson makes the world a better place

  • dude, you have the greatest last name ever.

  • So you start and end with notes in the scale, it's what you do in between that to get the outside sound. If you start or end with an outside note, it will sound horrible.

  • Thanks for the lesson. I tried the idea out in a song in F major on the C7 chord. I did the lick in C mixolydian mode and repeated it up a half step and then went up another half step and ended the lick on D (the 6th scale degree of F major) and it worked. Thank you again for sharing this technique.

  • nice tone on that custom tele

  • lickin'

  • I've watched your videos for years, and I've only just noticed your channel is named after a Herbie Hancock classic. Keep up the great lessons, rotren!

  • It sounds that you use this idea when you are moving through a II-V-1. Really sweet and simple! Just what I need. :)

  • @riseofthefallen301 you want him 2 records his video in a abyss ?

  • What a really pleasant surprise. Your little lesson just "aha'd!" a problem I've had my whole playing life. Simple and elegant. Thank-you.
