Our Story

480 is a dramatisation of real events and tells the story of a close and loving family whose smoke alarm battery wears out one night. For various reasons they do not replace the battery in their smoke alarm. Their luck finally runs out one day with tragic results.

The key prevention messages that the Fire and Rescue Service has moved towards is one of maintaining and testing smoke alarms, rather than the installation of new ones, this is based on research that smoke alarm ownership is estimated at 90% across the UK. Our drama will help get this message across to the general public and help save lives.

What We Need

Open Image Films felt it was not ethical to ask the Fire and Rescue Service for funds to help produce the drama, as they could use the money in the fight to help save lives. We are looking to raise funds for the production of the drama.

The drama is being made to get an important message across. Funds are being raised to cover the cost of producing the short film.
