The taxiing and takeoff of the Northwest DC-9 (N8929E) I rode from TF Green airport in Providence to DTW in Detroit, Michigan. I competed in an academic competition called Future Problem Solving and decided to take out my camera right before we took off. Sorry about the sound... I was sitting right next to the engine (LOUD!) and it really muffled the sound of mostly everything else that was happening around me.
This was an "ok" flying experience. The only thing they forgot to do (which completely stunned me) was the safety demonstration before we took off. No flight attendant demonstration or video or anything. Just told us to "review the information on the safety card in the seatback pocket in front of you" Wow. I might file a complaint.

Enjoy!

  • Was this the 4pm flight?

  • No, it was scheduled to take off at 12:30 but there were thunderstorms over Detroit so we couldn't board until 1:15

  • Were you able to get start-up & powerback?

  • Unfortunately, no. The seats on this plane are pretty small and I was having trouble stuffing my backpack under the seat infront of me and I realized my camera was in there once it was under the seat, so I had to take the backpack back out and take out my camera. I would have gotten the rest but I didn't have my camera out in time.

  • Thanks for posting. I like the older engines sound.

  • Thanks! Sorry it was so muffled. That engine is so damn loud but I love it!

  • If you get on one N8929E again seat 18F is perfect for less muffled sound.
