U.S. Green Building Council-Greater Houston Area Chapter is a cross-cultural 501-c3 organization dedicated to the construction of eco-friendly, energy-efficient homes, schools, buildings and neighborhoods. We believe that by transforming the expectations people have of their built environments, we can change the expectations they have of themselves and their communities. To accomplish this mission, we use the LEED certification process. The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design is a third-party verification process that incorporates all the best and innovative practices of the current marketplace and uses them to vet whether or not a building has achieved the highest standards of environmental stewardship and energy-efficiency. Building owners, school districts, homeowners, government agencies and others who own LEED buildings can proudly proclaim that they have indeed achieved a measured high-performance built environment. We welcome members, both corporate and individuals, to join in this movement. By joining with us you are telling your friends, families, neighbors, colleagues and competitors that you believe a green market transformation is part a larger cultural revolution that is sweeping our nation and world. You are telling them that you believe in it, one building, one home, one school, one neighborhood at a time. Remember to BUILD LEED GREEN because when you do, everyone profits.
So, nobody is making good money working for USGBC since it is a nonprofit? USGBC promotes spending more on energy efficient upgrades than will be saved in energy. Ever think that maybe bankers were behind USGBC? They drive up the cost of construction and for expample instead of you sending 100$/month to your energy provider, banks get 200$/month to cover the added const. costs. They simply funnel energy money towards banks, HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ENVIRONMENT! People use energy, NOT buildings.
