@peacefulblonde39 I don't really know what you mean by not worth the money. Of course I don't know if you are in a city with comparable amenities and it's our individual choice of what is important, but if I ever have a family near Detroit, I won't deprive them of seeing an opera, orchestra perform, museum because I heard that someone's car was broken into. Suburbs just cant even come close to offering anything impressive culturally except a bubble that bursts when kids get bored and move out.

@peacefulblonde39 Yea everyone talks about the violence yet I spent all my time downtown all through my college years and nothing ever happened to me or my friends. Then my friend goes to a club in San Francisco where later that night a guy gets shot and killed in a gang related shooting. Yet when you hear some story like yours everyone exclaims in unison "of course, thats typical Detroit" and the story gets retold 1000 times.

@whotolduso I did watch your video. Yes, there are nice places to frequent in Detroit.....but its not worth the money to drive down there. The violence is terrible! I watched a guy blow a whistle and several people with umbrella attabked a man to steal his watch! Its just not worth my families safety! :(

@kblopp um no youre wrong actually
most American cities from San Diego to Philly have recovered considerably with the new generation. Pittsburgh, Chicago, LA, including Detroit, all downtowns are becoming vibrant again. People are realizing once again that suburbs are boring as fuck and everyone who calls Detroit a dump either have never been there or are ignorant suburbanites with no sense of history or culture, and would rather sit and home and watch tv than go to an opera or an art show.
detroit crack rock city. white flight= black blight. thanx hip hop mayor, the dumbass's will vote kwame back in 5 years.
