This is the first draft of a text-based synthesizer I'm building in Max/MSP. I'm constructing this patch for GLOrk (Greensboro Laptop Orchestra), an ensemble based at UNCG.
Ideally, laptop performers will respond to some visual stimulus (say, a projected slideshow or a live dancer) by typing descriptive text into the box in the upper-left corner of the screen. They can then use a set of general operative words to manipulate the sounds that are being produced.
In this video, I demo some of the sounds that the patch makes so far. Much more to come!

  • @ronnie9253 Thanks! I've done a lot of work on the patch since then, and I'm getting ready to upload a new demo. Check back soon!

  • pretty damn 'finished' sounding/looking, for a 1st draft! Very intriguing
