Flying W Airport
Lumberton, New Jersey
Saturday April 18, 2009

IN THIS VIDEO, watch as a lot of operations take place with Runway 1 in use. It got pretty busy that I actually stopped shooting video for a while and just watched. The large majority of the video in the beginning was shot between 11 AM and noon. The Yak-52 you see in the video is owned by a gentleman who owns a maintenance center at the airport. This was the first time in a while that I've stopped by Flying W and not gone flying! Unlike the previous videos, I chose to stay in the "legal" part of the airport, and there were quite a few families out on that beautiful day watching the activities of the day. You will not see an HD version of this video, as I experimented with some settings on the previous day's video, and will probably use the setup you see in this video for the entire 2009 season.

This is the LAST spotting video for a while, as my airshow season is going to kick into high gear.

Like what you've seen? Well, if you are interested in purchasing DVDs of specific aircraft and/or of airshows, interested in anything and everything related to airshows (where the jet teams will show up, all airshow performers, airshow reports from airshows I have attended, previews of airshows I will be attending, etc.), a much more easier to navigate "version" of all of my videos, and/or everything there is related to aviation - including spotting guides to my favorite airports and military bases and aircraft factfiles, please take time to check out Steve's Airshow World at http://www.stevesairshow.com .

  • I wonder what the deal with N49396 at 12:30 was. Hiccup maybe? :P

  • That was a soft-field takeoff... I thought I was gonna be shooting something I was hoping not to catch...

  • the flying vehicles in somme of my video dont have wings, and usually filmed at night..being a pilot with lots of flying hours has to be awesome

  • ah, ok

  • Im a student there

  • How did you find this out?

  • Cessna 49396 Has recently crashed and is likely unrepairable, the pilot was doing a short-field takeoff, pulled up too fast and stalled into the ground. No injuries.

  • 12:20 he's lucky he didn't come back down and hit the runway

  • no it's not you the plane was weighed down to one side maybe thats the wing the fuel is in.

  • At 2:28 does it look like it's leaning off to the right? Or is it just me...

  • Oh no far from one. Looks like a Diamond DA-40.

  • Lucky*
