This is great! Exactly what I've been looking for in microphone recommendations. Thank you. Can I make a suggestion for your next video? Do this same "value-priced" format but with pre-amps! That is the missing link in the recording chain for me and I don't know where to start.
Very informative. As a long time live performer, I prefer to use my Beta 58 in the studio. I am not comfortable with a mic that picks up my breathing from 3-4 feet away. There is also less ambient noise to deal with during mixing. Once again, just personal preference. Fett is right on! Expensive equipment doesn't always equate to a better sound. It's the ear that counts.
Thanks Fett. Great video. I enjoyed your seminar on Mastering at the Taxi Rally.

Thanks for the information. Another good microphone for recording is the Behringer B1. It is very sensitive and great for vocals.

Nice segment, well spoken and informative. The concept of "Sound" is what matters, not price, is invaluable to get across.
