RICHMOND — M. Susan Shower, 72, of Richmond, has moved on to her next job of making cookies for St. Peter using all the butter and sugar she wants, as well as sandwiches for the children of Heaven. She passed peacefully on April 11, 2011, at the Hospice Compassionate Care Center.
Susan is survived by: her children Martha (Robert) Garrison of Fla.; Bill "Tre" (Laurie) Shower, Ky.; Mike (Bettina) Shower, Ariz. Her beloved grandchildren Patrick and Rachel (Ky.); DJ, Alex and Madison (Ariz.); Robert (Fla.); her sister Alice (Richard) Laatsch of Ohio, several nieces and nephews; her "adopted" Wesley children Alvin (Carrie) Cheng, the Rev. Amy Cook; and her three beloved cats Fredrick, Sarah and Brighteyes.
Susan's life was filled by giving to all she saw. She taught hygiene and health in the hills of eastern Kentucky, and bush villages of Mozambique. A volunteer extraordinaire for 35 years with the Daniel Boone Chapter of the American Red Cross, a retired registered nurse, active board member of the Wesley Foundation and supporter of Jericho Road (Outreach Thursday Night Student Ministry Program). Susan attended faithfully, lovingly and serving the Northridge Church. Her mentoring of the young adults is evident in their love for her. The ripples of life she left will become waves of love that will go on forever.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted April 30, 2011, at 11 a.m., Richmond First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jake Lee of Northridge Church officiating.
