true. but i would expand that "role" to everyone, not just those in need.
thing is, unfortunately, government is often the cause of suffering, rather than the solution. especially when it teams up with profit-seeking organizations. we need to help Americans in need with our nation's, our people's, wealth ... not pay x-company (at an unfair cost to the people, increasing our debt and poverty) to give them help for "free"
The role of government is to provide for those who cannot provide for themselves. If that means more goverment then so be it. We can't have our own people suffering when it is avoidable. We're all in it together as Woody is saying.
america needs this attitude now. the answer isn't more socialism (sorry woody). it's better socialism, less socialism.
the answer is the in people, in individual freedom, NOT the government. don't confuse our twisted capitalism with freedom. government subsidized corporations is not capitalism, much less freedom. we got lazy, gave up our freedoms to these companies that promised ... what? happiness, security, comfort?
fuck that. freedom above all else. real freedom, not sit-on-my-couch freedom
ADDRESSING DO GEESE SEE GOD, CALLING WOODY GUTHRIE A COMMIE, SHOWS YOU ARE A COMPLETE MORON. I WISH I COULD BE GHANDIESC, BUT IF 2012 DOES COME AND WIPES OUT MOST OF THE POPULATION, I HOPE IT TAKES OUT ALL THE ASSHOLES LIKE YOU FIRST. To a large dog thank you for posting the video
