my husband was there, I didn't meet him until 1976,and he had the very distant mode going. we dated for 2yrs, planned our wedding.. got the letter he could not handel being told what to do!!! had that in nam.. we split. we ended up together in 2000:):) got married.. got divorced---but still are together under 1 roof...he still drifts off to memories, but I know where he"s gone to, I don't know his pain or what to do but love him
This was a favorite song with the 7th Marine Regiment at Hoi An and An Hoa in the Rocket Belt south of Danang. To the men who served with me : I hope God has healed your souls and eased the pain as well as he did it for me.
Oh wow,....been to long since Ive heard this. I was a kid with a little radio listening to a staticky station from ,,,somewhere ,,,every night. And It was magical. ..just thinkin back.....thank you for posting this. Peace to you "Jenny" xx
@phillyblizzard - I was 12. I remember. My dad was a WW2 vet, my big brother's draft lottery number was 77...no cigs for another few years...assassinations abound and weren't about to stop. I have this album. I love this album.
@jst1674 johnny rivers only wrote one hit song poor side of town everything else was covers, hendrix wrote this song he never passed any songs off to any other artist
I liked this song then and I still do.

This was released in 1968. I was thirteen. I remember.
Robert Kennedy and Martin Luther King were assassinated before the end of the semester.
My dad had been home from the Nam for a year. I started to smoke cigarettes that summer. I'm loving this song =)
