Commodity selling and commodity marketing is a dangerous game because businesses are now competing in a global economy where customers can buy products viewed as commodities such as mobile phones or televisions from different countries that offer a lower price for these items. Being a commodity-based business will make you very vulnerable. Move from being a commodity seller to being an expert. When you become an expert in a particular area, people will be willing to pay for your expertise. Customers value expertise. To be an expert, separate yourself from the pack. Focus on a niche and be an expert in that niche.
Once you have become an expert, move to being a celebrity. You have to be famous for your industry or field. Being a celebrity will mean that you are unique and uniqueness sells. Being a celebrity in your field will highlight your business and your brand from your competitors.
