  • Fantastic footage of a stunning bird. Unfortunately I've yet to see an owl in the wild

  • Thanks. These owls are real regulars. I usually visit when I know they'll be most hungry - such as a sunny evening at the end of a wet day. I was just lucky in that they decided to hunt close enough to me for me to able to get some decent film.

  • When they're close, try 'squeaking' them. Make a long, soft kissing sound with your lips - they often come to investigate, honest! If you crouch down or stand against bushes while you do it, they'll sometimes come right overhead. Short-eared Owls too.

  • That sounds daft - but I'll give it a go sometime! Thanks for the tip!

  • Real nice video in fullscreen mode. TY Jerome.

  • Thanks, that's kind of you.
