@rafatal "saunf", the licorice-like thing is also known as fennel.

I normally use cardamom, ginger, cinnamon, cloves & black pepper, and this recipe sounded a little unusual to me... so glad I tried it--it's fantastic! I've never heard of that combination of spices being used (fennel+black cardamom+tulsi+cloves), but it's really great! Where in India does your dad come from? Also I have a second question... I have a friend from Delhi who insists that the aluminum pan (like your dad seems to be using) is essential. What does your dad say on this subject?

@cpmkw Hello, my Dad comes from Punjab. We got the pan from England and we've been using it for a while but I don't think it's essential. You can make great chai in any pot/pan.

I LOVED your video! If your dad is ever willing, I'd love for you to post more about how he does Indian cooking. I'm just now learning some of the herbs and spices and made your dad's tea about an hour ago.... very yummy! I used anise seeds because I didn't have the licorice. Well, post more! Thanks!

@DaughterAndHeir Thank you! He doesn't do a lot of Indian cooking. That's usually my Mom. I'll be posting more if I go home. Glad you liked the tea!! :)

@rafatal it's called "saunf." It's like a licorice. You can find it at all Indian stores. Thanks for watching :)
