Cardinal Newman moves closer to sainthood

Now what does the name John Henry Newman mean to you ? Not a whole lot, probably.. but that could be about to change.Cardinal Newman, as he's known, is now a step closer to becoming a saint bringing a steady influx of visitors to the city he made his home - Birmingham. The Vatican gave the clearest indication yet when they asked for his remains to be moved to a marble tomb at the church he founded in the city centre. Bernadette Kearney reports.

Newman had the last laugh ! No remains were found when his Coffin was exhumed by the Oratory Fathers other then the coffin plate and a few strands of locks of his clothing. So the Sarcophagus plan was abandoned. also, If the Pope does comes to England to Beatify Newman it will be not at the oratory in Birmingham. More likely to be london and it will be a brief visit . The last papal visit in 1982 cost million of pounds. There is speculation that this will be in Sept/Octboer 2010 .
