Creepy officer as he drove all the way from down the tracks really fast and then took almost 10 minutes to approach me, but he finally just came to me just to make sure I wasn't doing anything I shouldn't.
AND every single train that follows, in either direction. Weather or not you are near the tracks. Why? because others also engaged in the hobby, have a decidedly large lack of common sense, and put themselves in harms way. I'm really not trying to be a jerk here, really. And, I apologize if I'm coming off that way. However, perhaps, if you were on THIS side of it, you would better understand the havoc of which I speak. I don't want to see anyone get killed. It really is dangerous.
Well, Part of my post is missing. The First sentence should have said Actually, if your on the right of way, your trespassing. And the second should have read I respect your right to enjoy your hobby..ect. Now then, if an engineer salutes you, that's nice. However, whenever one of you guys are out there, be it on the platform, or in a parking lot, the first engineer to spot you is obligated to call it in to the dispatcher, who must then notify the police (more to follow)
@MasterAlchemist1 Well actually.........I'm not. People are on the Morris-Essex and Boonton-Montclair platform all the time. And I'm not causing that much havoc cuz there have been plenty of engineers who have saluted me. But yes, many people do stray from where they should be but I do not and I do realize the whole post 9/11 scenario. Sorry, I am not trying to be mean but I really am not trespassing and don't like to be accused of it if I really am not, that's all.
i had a Noorwood cop save my ass from a CSX cop! he told me they were coming because they had found out i was filming and to leave asap!! as soon as i was walking away froim the tracks, i saw them driving along the tracks, so i left really fast!
It's bound to happen to anyone filming train since they founds plans to derail trains. All we could do is be polite and act normal. We aren't doing anything wrong except enjoying our hobby. We are also the eyes and ears if we see anything out of the ordinary. At least you had only one. I had 6 of them come to me recently.
Railway Police sounds like a worst job idea then Mall Cops, until they prevent you from rail fanning. Dammit 9/11.

In Japan, filming trains is considered as an popular hobby. Filming trains in the United States is seen as 'soliciting terrorist activities.' Wow.
