Good advice on pick angle. An important aspect of speed is how fast you can think-out what you play while playing it. The majority of a solo should sound like you've put your mind into it. Even if it's memorized, phrasing makes mindfulness apparent. No matter how fast you can think, there's that next gear that requires autopilot. People want to hear YOU, not your fingers. A trick here & there is great, but unrelenting autopilot-playing eventually loses listeners who aren't guitarists.
