UFC Live: Shields vs Ellenberger is an upcoming mixed martial arts event to be held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship on September 17, 2011 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The event will be the seventh that the organization has held in Louisiana and first since UFC 37 in 2002.

The main event between Jake Shields and Jake Ellenberger was expected to be the first five round non-title fight in UFC history, but the fight will instead be contested at three rounds.

Mackens Semerzier was expected to face Mike Lullo at the event[4], but pulled out of the event on August 31[5] and was replaced by Robert Peralta.

DaMarques Johnson was expected to face Clay Harvison at the event, but pulled out of the bout with an injury on August 31 and was replaced by Seth Baczynski.

Daniel Roberts was originally scheduled to face TJ Waldburger, but pulled out due to an injury and was replaced by Mike Stumpf.

The entire preliminary card will stream on Facebook.

  • it wasnt illegal but it was dirty. i hope manny finaly fights him now to put him in his place. i agree ortiz was fighting dirty but he did it while they were FIGHTING you can say "he cant stand around and wait for him to start fighting" thats fine if it wasnt 2 seconds after he apologized. saying anything else is just ignorance and biased based on your favorite fighters or who you bet on. both fighters fought dirty, atleast ortiz was fighting dirty when they were both FIGHTING not apologizing

  • @KidTw1st

He apologized 5 times. Tried hugging 2x.

    Apologizing isn't in boxing.

    Punching is though.

So is the refs instructions: "Protect Yourself At All Times."

If they were touching gloves at the beginning of the fight/ round, woulda been different. But not after a dirty head butt.

  • Karsten, did you watch the Mayweather vs Ortiz fight? Two words--DIRTY FIGHTERS!! Both were doing some foul stuff man. Several times I caught Ortiz throwing illegal elbows. And, that intentional head-butt....that was out of pure frustration, much like the Tyson's ear biting stunt against Holyfield. Bottom line, Floyd took advantage of Ortiz's naivety and inexperience, retaliated in kind, and got the KO, but all within the boundaries of the rules. Don't like the guy,but he did what he had to do.

  • @4iamu

41 fights. And Mayweather has never been a dirty fighter. And he wasn't in his 42nd either. How long was Mayweather supposed to wait around for Ortiz to start fighting again?

  • @doliveij

    Incorrect, Karsten.

Watch the Mayweather v Gatti fight.

Also, Mayweather went down against Judah but pretended he hadn't. It's almost like these refs are willing to turn a blind eye, right?

And what of his fight against Hatton? Whenever Hatton came in, Floyd turned his head and ducked so he could be hit on the back of the head. If the ref (Cortez again - SURPRISE) hadn't broken the fight every time Hatton got inside, could Floyd have done that dirty tactic?

    Come on, bro...

  • @HoneyIEducatedTheWeb

    That isn't DIRTY. lol

Dirty = Point taken off. Those are tactics.

Just like in MMA, when fighters turn their head so the fighters can't hit the back of their head. Or keep a hand on the ground to avoid knees.

    C'mon son.

  • Like the beat.

  • @KidTw1st dude the ref told them to "go" and ortiz still tried to hug him some more its his fault i personally dont like mayweather but ortiz fucked up

  • nice.. i like that new beat

  • @KidTw1st I still don't like Mayweather, but he did nothing wrong. I would of actually been quite okay with Floyd spitting on Ortiz after knocking his ass out. I DO think Mayweather gets WAY more heat than he deserves (that's not to say he doesn't bring on some of it himself) but it's racist sob's like Larry Merchant, that make Mayweather out to be a villain.

  • @1titans nice reading and comprehension skills. if your sister wasnt also your mom you might have the brain power to read my words in the correct order but since thats not the case i excuse you for being a fucking retard.

  • @JWCFIGHTFAN tbh bro i just like making bs arguments and seeing if i can win, i dont even follow boxing i just watched the end of the fight lmao.

  • @KidTw1st OR you could look at it this way. Ortiz was using an illegal Technique and Mayweather used a legal technique. Most people, on youtube, are biased against Mayweather. Honestly watch this fight and then watch Pacquaio's last fight. What does Pacquaio have that could beat Mayweather? He's fast and he's tenacious but does he has no footwork and he's an arm puncher and really has no defense. Naaim Richardson already solved how to beat him but Mosley had no heart.

  • @doliveij

Here is a video that perfectly sums it up.

Type in, "Floyd Mayweather Jr. Knocks Out Victor Ortiz in Bizarre Fight! "

    From UncutSports.

  • @doliveij

    "Apologizing isn't in boxing.

    Punching is though."

Riddick Bowe fought someone, whom kicked him. Why did he kick Bowe? Because Bowe hit him after the bell.

Your point is flawed. Boxing rules dictate that the ref MUST say, "box". Joe said, "let's go".

Ortiz was not looking at the ref because he was stupid. This was not Palhares V Marquardt.

    Ortiz was not hurt.

Floyd feigned accepting the apology, and hit him with two cheap shots.

If you do not think that is dirty, then god bless
