When it comes to fitting a door lining, it needs to be done correctly because the door lining is what the door is going to be hung from and if the door lining isn't sitting right, the door won't either.

  • Thanks for your comment feller but as you may of been told befor theres no need to rush so take your time, if you know what I mean ??? lol

Rushing the job doesnt make it a better job.

  • Do you always use these pre moulded strips of timber for door framing? what size studs are you using for the stud walls.i'm a bricky and dont done much timber work except for roofing

  • @Al12Al1 Not always, you can use a combination of timber i.e 125mm x 32mm prepared and then some 50mm x 25mm for your door stop ? The studs we we're going against where 100mm x 47mm. I hope this is of some help, if not then shout back. Many thanks TSTV

Great thanks. what screws are you using for this type of timber work. are they spax? about 65-70mm long.cheers

  • @Al12Al1 I just use High Performance screws, they have a self drilling point, very similar to Spax but a lot cheaper. If you visit the link on our Youtube Channel for our website, you can find them on there. Hope this is of some help. Thanks TSTV.

  • @davedharper2 Good point. I'd be interested to know the best way to check that. I guess the simplest way is with the door!

  • I gotta remember to nick some pencils from Ikea again.

  • You didn't check the if frame was in twist. Its ok having it level, but if having a twisted frame is just as bad as having it out of level.

  • now i know why i need to spend money on cscs cards every 5 years with cowboys like this.frame was 'braced' not squared.you need to measure from corner to op leg and vice versa to square, and then brace at the head and leg.

frame not 'sighted through'.and was that 3 screws per leg?if that door fitted ok,which i doubt. when the heating went on it would not!

  • change the speed on your drill, its taking you ages to put a screw in lol
