Gilbert Montagné (born December 28, 1951 in Paris) is a leading French musician who is both a pianist and organist, as well as a singer. Blind from birth, he is best remembered for his international hit "The Fool", which was a number 1 single across Europe in 1971. In France he is still a popular albums and concert artist, having toured with the likes of Johnny Hallyday.

Quelque part tu m'oublies

FREEDOM

Change from home, writing songs, released
Going out on the street, feeling lost,

freedom
Living the life of its people in front
Living smiling all alone in my ice
To steal a boat to walk on water, freedom
Singing in the rain, burn all my nights,

freedom
My walnut alcohol and tobacco
To never think about yourself.

Freedom, a music critic
Freedom, in other Americans
Freedom, be a public danger
A red romantic.
Freedom, far from the cries of celebration
Freedom, victory in defeat
Freedom, to lose your head
Liberated from you have loved.

Change planet may or may not be released
Go on an island, like other girls, freedom
Waking up between dog and wolf
To never think about us
I hope maybe
Freedom, and revive the life
Freedom, yet another step in life
Freedom, and already in the city
Somewhere you I forget.

  • Monsieur Jokarilon, I've translated the song "Liberte" in English lingo but the space here is very limited. The song is about freedom (Liberte) from someone you have loved. Freedom from all the hassles in his life and all that. The meaning of the song is lovely. I think I wasn't born yet when this song became popular.

  • Thanks, V... good job!

  • Thanks Jokarilon. This takes me back to 1983 when I lived in Orange, Provence for a year as a 21 year old. I also remember: Toute premier fois by Jeanne Mas, songs by a band called Indochine, Michel Sardou and so many more. For some reason though this song and on va s'aimer (?) are the 2 that I remember most. Happy memories.

  • Welcome & thanks too! The other songs you made mention seem great too. Hope to hear them someday.
