  • I think I need a beer right now!

  • A genious. Thanks Rory! I wish some modern super-stars had listened more to Rory's music before they called themeselves "musicians".

  • I 'm feeling blue..i think i need a beer!! or two!!

  • @swampgrassmusic I think it's better to play the 7th chords and pick indivudual notes just by getting a feel for it. I didn't use any scale or modes when playing and it sounds pretty sweet.

  • @FuckTheSmash this was originally on Calling Card, but without the Fuller tune

  • My biggest suggestion on learning this one is take it slow. I seriously took my time and it seemed to take me forever. Just take each passage in small bites and constantly review. The lines are bluegrass-similar, use blue notes but takes a generally major or mixolydian mode but like I said adds the blue flat liberally. I hope that helps some. Have fun, this is a cool one to work out..

  • sorry @ukumba for the lag in reply, I concur with the rest here, Rory performed the live versions in standard and on the calling card record it sounds tuned down a whole step, playing the song in the same C chord positions but with it sounding B flat. I have worked out the versions, have seen some tabs online, not 100% accurate, but they can get you close enough that when you play against the original you can work from there. I don't have the links but should be easy enough to look up.

  • Rory was master of many instruments, here the National Steel guitar (all metal). He also played acoustic guitar, mandolin and electric sitar (Philby). I think that makes him unique among the "Masters." I saw an interview with a German rock critic who was trying to get him to analyze himself. He basically retorted politely (despite his obvious irritation) that he just wanted to get better at playing his music. He said he just did not self-analyze. He just played. Gotta love him!

  • any one know where i can find a studio recording of this ?? i know one exists but i lost the mixtape it was on :(

  • One of the all time greats who never got his due.

  • Keep Rory Alive, and play Rory's music !!

  • RiP :'(
