  • Here's a horse who won over 30 stakes races, yet today he's forgotten by the newbies of horse racing.

  • On Oct.31,1964 Kelso set an American track record for 2 miles on the dirt. Eleven days later on the grass, who some people said he was'nt as good on, set another American track record for 1.5 miles. He had to race around 3 turns on Laurel's 1 mile turf course.

  • That performance with 136lb up is why he was so good for so long. He had the drive to win,even if things didn't go his way. That was a CHAMPION!

  • Kelso absolutely belongs in the top five of all time, and this race is further evidence of that.
