Daudta Bhagta hai yeh bachpan- Working towards a Polio free India

Tremendous progress has been made in the last several years to interrupt polio transmission in India. India is only few states away from being polio free and the virus has become increasingly localized to only few blocks of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

The children of Rajpura are making a strong appeal for polio eradication in UNICEF's entertainment education television soap opera Kyunki... Jeena Issi Ka Naam Hai.

A unique blend of shadow enactment and animation, the song 'Daudta Bhagta hai yeh bachpan' remind us of the joys of having 'happy feet' in our childhood.

The very essence of it is rooted in freedom of movement, feet that allow children to run carefree, swim, play cricket and do practically everything else under the sun.

Most polio affected children are robbed of this carefree childhood. Many become dependent on lifetime of crutches as the poliovirus cripples children waist down, thereby restricting their movement. .
