This is the last of the 14 part original series. I added some text on 02-06. You should look for a follow up eventually. If there is one then a search on "TalkToCCSD 002" will bring up a list of the entire series and any follow up. Why do Clark County Schools cost so much? This series contains 14 parts. Could it be that the school district is using school bond money to build public works like regional detention ponds to avoid flooding? Could it be that money is used to construct infrastructure for private companies like cable and utilities like huge water mains and streets? The CCSD Trustees would have you believe that these costs are necessary because their planners incompetently planned for the timing of school land acquisitions. Actually they squander school building funds in the same way in existing schools build where the infrastructure already exists. Of course, building roads and water mains etc is a gift to those private companies who also eventually hook onto them without reimbursement to the school bond funds. Tax dollars go to pay the bond money back. So why is the $5 billion bond money being so poorly managed? This is one of many reasons why your school tax dollar doesn't go as far as you think that it should.
