Arkansas contributed a higher percentage of its population to the Civil War than any other state. Interesting figures. Filmed at Reed's Bridge reenactment near Jacksonville, Ark.

  • The key word there is common.

  • North Carolina may have given the most but I believe this gentleman is saying that Ark gave the highest % of population. And you would have to include those that joined the Union forces which was a significant number here in Arkansas which I do not believe existed in NC.

  • actually the state of north carolina gave the most tennessee gave the second most an then VA those are the top three states that gave to the confederacy

  • Well at least Ark had 67000 men who had common sense. 9800 didnt.

  • I can only imagine the paucity of men folk from 1861-1865 in the state of Arkansas. Most likely the women anted up and took the plow, ran the farm, watched over the young folk and prayed that no Yankee raiders came around.
