The Departments of Chemistry and Physics at Lewis University hosted a poster session on April 28 on the Romeoville campus. The event showcased student projects in upper division courses including Advanced Physics Laboratory, Advanced Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry.
Topics presented included Nanotechnology, Alternative Energy Storage, Green Chemistry, Drug Design, Synthesis of Biomaterials, Forensics, Diagnostics for Cancer, Atkins Diet/Ketone Bodies and Laser Physics.
Examples of students that presented included Vince Shade with Synthetic Preparation and Properties of Semiconducting Nanowires, Lauren Grabstanowicz and Katie Poetz with Impact of Molecular Structure on the Formation of Cu Passivation Films and Victoria A. Keeling and Thomas J. Soderquist with Luminol Presumptive Test for Blood: Impact of Metal-Ligand Complexes on the Formation of Hydroxyl Radicals.
