The Mental Health Mobile Crisis Team (MHMCT) provides crisis support for children, youth and adults experiencing a mental health crisis. It offers telephone crisis service 24/7 anywhere within the Capital Health District and mobile crisis response from 1 p.m. to 1 a.m. daily to most communities in HRM. The Team includes mental health professionals and Halifax Regional Police officers who are designated to the service. MHMCT offers confidential and non-judgmental mental health assessment and intervention as well as support and consultation to individuals, family and community members. No issue is too big or too small.
The crisis team has a lot of work to do---I called the crisis team for help and was treated like a criminal when they arrived--my 11 year old daughter was traumatized---in the future i would call a family member or take myself to the hospital or die on my deck....the police are not prperly trained in my opinion

The MHMCT is not just available in the Halifax area but also anyone outside of the area may call the number if they are experiencing a crisis and need someone to talk to. While the team may not be able to go to you if you are outside of the area, the clinician on the phone offers a supportive listening ear.
This is a great service and needs to be made known that it is not just accessable in the HRM district.
