Paris Daniell and Dennis Clark take to lake Herman with a fist full of shaky head hooks and craw imitation plastics. Come along on this fishing trip as they make their way down the bank and try to hook up using this excellent bass fishing technique. Using this single rig, they end up catching 9 bass in 3 hours. • where at lake herman are you fishing at? Is it by the spillway or the park? I went there today and threw some plastics and didn't have any luck. It was also my first time there and don't know where to fish on the lake yet. Can you help me out?

  • @bassinator20 We were by the spillway; but it's not the location but more the type of structure we were fishing. Look for thick weed walls and underwater cliffs, also the rip rap on the dam wall can produce.

The forage in lake Herman consists of small shad, yellow perch, and crawdads. I would throw either a swim-bait or a craw imitation/jig. Spinners are also great baits when the water gets choppy.

Herman is a hard lake to crack, stay confident and remember to catch and release. Good luck!

  • ahhh... man i love fishing off the shores like that. Best thing is to fish all night cat fish and camp out, and wake up early to fish for bass in the morning then when it gets to damn hot go for a swimming bro. Nice video man. =0)

  • @dbzgt545 You're right, there is nothing better than that!

  • hey is the fish at 3:17 A crappie

  • @youngfishingboy3333 Hey there, I think it is a type of sunfish, which the crappie is a part of. Good eye! Thanks for the comment.

  • going there this weekend with a buddy. i was wodering what the bottom is like? is it weedy, rocky, sandy, mud, ect? does this lake weed up pretty heavy in the summer? sorry for all the questions just trying to figure some things out before i head to a new lake. i hate going unprepared. lol anyways awsome vid guys! and its good to see ppl catch and release!

  • @gbh559 Thanks for the welcome back and comment. Texas rig is a mainstay for me too, and the shaky head isn't too far from the same kind of action. I would say the shaky does a better job of coming through the weed walls clean, whereas unless your bullet weight is pinned, a Texas rig will likely pull some grass up with it.

Looking forward to getting more videos out; I have enough footage for another film at another lake - so tune in soon!

    Fish on gbh559!

  • Hello Paris and Dennis,

Glad to see you fishing again. Been a while. I don't recall ever using a shaky head, kinda reminds me of grub, crawfish combo. Here where I am we use a lot of ZOOM lizards, crawfish, ss u-tails, and ss magnums. Watermelon seed or Green Pumpkin colored. Reds work well sometime. Blacks or dark blues at night. Carolina riggin' and Texas riggin' are the norm for plastics. Spinner baits are also favs of mine. Just put something in the water boys and HANG ON!!!
