@altfish2 relax....it was a reunion tour....never to be repeated...not terrible that they refer to Tienamin sq just a few weeks after the event either
I saw the Jefferson Starship at RCMH on their first tour (1974?); before they went pop. They were great & bare bones compared to this orchestra. Grace, Marty Papa John and Paul were there. David Freiberg played, &a couple of other folks that I can't remember. We all went to try and capture a bit of the Airplane but, unlike this "we gotta pay the rent" tour we also heard some excellent musicianship & emotion. One of the amps was an old airplane amp, painted with day glow designs.
The music from JA at this gig still had plenty of bite- except from Jorma, well, he was a junkie at that time. It certainly doesn't sound old and sad. Having two extra guitarists & two keyboardists was pointless. Nice to know they had closure on high though.
Someone mentioned one last possible re-union. Absolutely not! They're all about 70 these days. Now that would be pissing on their memory. Go back to the old material my friend, it's still as poignant & as fresh as a daisy.
i was at both radio city gigs, the spac gig, jones beach and new jersey and the housing now protest in dc...will we ever see them together like this on stage ala 1967? it'd be nice for the 50th anniversary.....i first saw them in 1967 in la....

Oh dear; how can a great band of the 60/70s turn into middle of the road bland rock band
