This shows one way how to use the logitech x540 speakers with the Xbox 360 while using HDMI output.
Diagram http://img151.imageshack.us/img151/7892/speakersetup.jpg NOTE: you cannot obtain true 5.1 surround sound unless you use optical output and the x540 will not work directly with optical output

  • Speakers aren't really surrounding you are they :P

  • @dnarbedlih1 they are if you connect them to a sound card/ HTC/or DAC that support analog output

  • Do the x540's have optical input?

  • @Richyroooooo x540 doesnt have optical input, otherwise i would have used it

  • is there a PlayStation 3 equivalent to that adapter?

  • @sumgui it doesnt need one because you can use your original av cable red white audio while you are using hdmi

  • can't you just connect these to your tv so you can have surround sound on everything you do? like tv, movies, gaming etc?

  • The way I did it: PS3/Xbox is connected to the TV with HDMI. TV is connected to my desktop PC's Sound Blaster card via optical connection. 5.1 speakers are then connected to the Sound Blaster. That gives you true 5.1 surround from a gaming console, assuming you already have a 5.1 card in your computer.

  • maybe old, but I now got a 5.1 SPA2602 system from philips, the back got three red.white audio in and those cables which come with it have 3.5 mm Jackplugs. (problem is I can only connect two of the three 3.5 mm jackplugs in the 360 cable, anyone help?

  • Actually that audio adaptor was a waste of money I mean look at this adaptor
