Bartine Burkett Zane talks about Buster Keaton taking her to the weekly dances at the Hollywood Hotel in the 1920s. She was his leading lady in the silent comedy short "The High Sign" released in 1921.

  • Whoever recorded these great recollections of Mrs. Zane's, well, bless them! And thank you for posting these; what priceless treasures of movie legends & history this is. I also learned something here: I'm a silent movie fan but I don't remember hearing about this lady until seeing these videos - so now I'll have to go read up on her. Such a sweet voice and good memory!

  • @MissyH316 glad you enjoyed the videos. Unfortunately, very few of her silent films have survived.

  • Wow! People seemed so much classier back then. I mean, a lady could be adorable for just fitting the accepted standards of being lady-like for the period. Ya know how you can kinda wish you lived in another time? Well, with exception to some problems that would've accompanied my particular time travel experience, were I able to do that sort of thing, I admit there's a certain "cool beans appeal" that comes to my mind about notable charm in some people of those times. Interviews are a blessing.

  • Yeah, I think it's great how he didn't try to pressure him into drinking with him. A man respected a lady's limits back then. This lady has the neatest stories. I hope some more get posted.
